Summary/Abstract: According to a so-called autobiographical article published in 1941, Tudor Arghezi’s childhood was nothing but a „painful age” of his life. Literary history doesn’t mention much about his childhood and adolescence. When asked, he refused to give further information about his life. His work only shows signs of a tumultuous life experience. In some of Tudor Arghezi’s poems and novels his mother is an iconic character. This is a compensation for her anonimous biographical identity. His biography is more like a literary work because of the poet’s continuous effort to create an identity which did not remind him of his true, unpleasant past experience.
