Summary/Abstract: Tudor Arghezi was not not only a great Romanian poet but also a very prodigious pamphleteer. He had a vocation for polemic and wrote on the most controversial issues of his time, entering into polemic with many writers. Among them were the historian Nicolae Iorga and the poet Ion Barbu. He was even imprisoned two times: in 1919 and 1943 because of his critical articles and his disobedient attitude towards the political parties and Romania’s position in the 1st World War and the 2nd World War. In October 1943 he published the nationalistic pamphlet „Baroane”, in which the German ambassador in Romania, Manfred von Killinger was accused for his taking part in the loot of our country.
