Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the problem of the functional expressions of the Slavic conjunctions, also taking into consideration the process of their development. The analysis of that phenomenon is based upon deterministic theory of the chaos that originated in exact sciences, but it is alsoused in linguistics today. In that theory, this group of language elements is not seen as forming an orderly system but, on the contrary, as forming in the state of chaos. From that state of chaotic functioning of these elements subsequently new elements emerge in unpredictable ways; furthermore, the existing elements get new functions and in that way new polyfunctional elements are created. Due to the wide range of problems connected with this issue, the author decided to present and concentrate on the chosen material taken from three languages; namely Polish, Štokavian (Shtokavian) and Bulgarian.
