Summary/Abstract: Naval architecture translations covers the translation of many kinds of specialized texts in science and technology (Chesterman, 2002), part of which are naval architecture texts. Comparing naval architecture translation with literary translation, Aixelá (2004:183) sustains the view that scientific prose cannot be perfectly or more easily translated: "The contrary is true: the extremely high requirements set for scientific and naval architecture translation mark it out clearly from other genres, making it into an independent research field in its own right."
