Summary/Abstract: This article presents the most important questions and issues concerning the anti-terrorist activity of The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. It discusses the following concepts: the competence of FSB, the structure of the FSB Special Purpose Centre and the role of FSB in the activity of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee. Legal acts regulating the struggle against terrorism in Russia have been briefly characterised here, including the key act, the Law on Counteraction of Terrorism, of 2006. Major terrorist attacks that happened in recent years in Russia have been described, too. In the summary statistics have been presented. The article is concluded with ideas on creating efficient anti-terrorist system.
