Summary/Abstract: English Present Perfect does not seem to occupy a specific temporal section on the time-line; it encompasses the past, the present and possibly the future. It also implies that certain meanings which could be treated as aspectual ones (e.g., continuation, recentness, result, experience). The present study discusses these temporal and aspectual components, with examples from contemporary British fiction.
