Summary/Abstract: Our article aims to analyze the representations and symbolism of dualism, in many novels written by Michel Tournier, from the perspective of Jung's abyssal analysis. The concept of dualism brings forward two other concepts: the identity and the difference. The problem arising is: how can two subjects be, at the same time identical and yet different. The dynamics specific to dualism requires that the emphasis is placed on the identity, until the difference is fully removed, fact which is actually felt as an anomaly producing ontological disorder and the subject's spiritual destructuring. The rule of the identity perturbing the difference is presented in every case of excessive resemblance between a subject and its double (twin or lookalike).
