Summary/Abstract: Originality of this work lies in the discovery and interpretation of the transcultural symbol of the mirror – constantly reflected in the work of contemporary writer Nancy Huston – closely related to the theory formulated by the renowned French psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan (theory referred to as „The stage of the mirror”). Transculturalism, a major aspect of transdisciplinary research, will enable one the access to the linguistic and cultural spaces that the author is crossing and which have influenced both her life and work. The bilingual monologue Limbes/Limbo published „in a mirrored manner” captures and reflects the various facades of the author’s cultural and linguistic identities reunited beyond frontiers. Self-translation is at the same time the mirror and her access door to Transculturalism. Through the transcultural symbol of the mirror the writer enters a new type of evolution related to culture and the genuine relationship with the Other.
