Summary/Abstract: The description of the female characters in Voiculescu's stories is based on the oscillation between firm reality and fairytale, on a subtle blend of fantastic and real lines. The portraits borrowed, through harmony, the dimensions of folkloric classics betraying the mood and the voluptuousness of the detailed line. The unique attribute of the few female characters is the striking beauty that draws attention to the specific significance of the appearance. We encounter in Voiculescu’s stories some feminine characters that can be framed in different types of femininity, taking into account their physical traits, their behavior, and the tense psychological states they produce on masculine characters. Thus we encounter primitive feminine hypostases, the lost and the fox, superimposed on the female characters, embodied in the tempting woman. But there are also the less appealing and short-eyed faces of the feminine: the old, harmless woman and the monstrous woman with the image close to death. Voiculescu transfers so many meanings to feminine characters - and female elements - because his stories are overwhelmed by masculine characters. Thus, he tries to achieve a balance between masculine and feminine.
