Summary/Abstract: A number of attempts to map the historical and cultural heritage have been undertaken in the Republic ofMoldova, though they have not been successful. Historical and ethnographic atlases have not been developed so far.In the years 1960–1961, a team led by N. Mohov dealt with the elaboration of a historical atlas. The manuscript was not published. In the 1960s, a mixed team worked on the development of the Regional Atlas of Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. Because of the repression of the ethnographic science in the Ukrainian SSR, it has not been finalized. The team from the Moldavian SSR led by V. Zelenciuc continued its work on the realization of the Historical and Ethnographic Atlas of the Moldavian SSR, which has notbeen published either. In the years 1973–1975, the series of the Archaeological Map of the Moldavian SSR was published in 8 volumes. The linguists from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, who in 1968–1973 published the Moldavian Linguistic Atlas in 4 volumes (ALM), and in 1993–2003 the RomanianLinguistic Atlas of the Regions Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina, Transnistria (ALRR, Bas.) enjoyed attainment. The tourist maps of the Republic of Moldova also constitute a successful experience. However, important knowledge and experience isgained in the Republic of Moldova regarding the use of cartographic research methods in humanities, which, coagulated, can contribute to the completion of cultural heritage atlases.
