The sources of information in the work of the teacher-regionalist (on the basis of an example furnished by Gimnazjum No. 9 in Bytom)

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the study that was conducted was to identify the sources of information which are used by teachers-regionalists who teach in Gimnazjum No. 9 in Bytom. The text describes the premises of regionalism in Poland, describes the main inspirers of regionalism, such as Aleksander Patkowski and the popularisers of the love of one’s home region – Śląsk (Karol Miarka, ks. Józef Szafranek and ks. Norbert Bonczyk). One analysed the statements devoted to regional education since the 1990s. The study was conducted in three stages: an open survey, an analysis of documents i.e. the annals of regional classes, and the use of survey questionnaires.
