Summary/Abstract: The most famous works of Péter Bod (1712–1769), the Reformed minister, literature and church historian, who had been born 300 years ago, are Historia Hungarorum Ecclesiastica (I–III.vols. Leiden 1888–1890), St. Polycarp of Smyrna (Nagyenyed, 1766), St. Hilary (Nagyszeben 1760)and Hungarian Athenas (Nagyszeben 1766). These volumes are valuable resources, the more so since we know of the existence of books and manuscripts in Bod’s time exclusively from his descriptions, because many had perished since. In his St. Polycarp of Smyrna the author presents the lives of 26 Transylvanian Hungarian Reformed bishops.
