Summary/Abstract: Mircea Voivode, took over and fulfilled the initiatives of his predecessors, but he also promoted new ones, adequate to his time and the country’s needs. During his reign, for more than thirty years, he succeeded in consolidating and developing the new state, Wallachia, as the most powerful one in the South Eastern Europe, while stoping the military and confessional expansion of the Hungarian (Catholic) Kingdom into these lands, as well as that of the Ottoman Empire (Muslim). The present study evokes the Great Mircea’s spiritual dimension, organically embedded in his being and biography. He was particularly noted as a fighter for Christianity.
