Summary/Abstract: The issue of safety, especially in the contemporary globalised world, requires an interdisciplinaryapproach, which takes into account insights offered by such disciplinesas philosophy, sociology, economics, or political sciences, with a special considerationof international relationships. The aim of this paper is to introduce safety as a moraldilemma with regard to the safety-freedom dichotomy. In the first part, the humanisticaspect of safety will be depicted, especially in its axiological dimension. The analysis ofsafety will be carried out in the context of the intersubjective existence. The intersubjectiveexistence of safety is formulated on two levels: the real and unreal intersubjectiveexistence. In the second part of the paper, the institutional aspect of safety will be presented. Here, the discussion will proceed in the context of non-independence of theexistence of structural safety. Among others, the following phenomena posing a threatto safety in a global world will undergo analyses in the context of the objectivity ofexistence (real and unreal objective existence) and non-independence of existence:terrorism, cyberterrorism, mass migration, various conflicts, development disparitiesbetween countries, and the protection of the natural environment.
