Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to outline a trend in the contemporary world theatre that shies away from the usual set of main and supporting characters but focuses instead on a Chorus-like type of characters of equal importance whose plight is in the territory of the tragic. Interestingly, the audience in some of these shows is also drawn/made to feel as part of that tragic Chorus. Via the approach of the interpretative analysis several shows are being presented as examples of the trend – all of them created by star names of the current world and European theatre stages. References are also made to theatre waves that are either parallel with or partially coinciding with the tragic-hero-in plural trend.
