Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present and criticize Susan Blackmore’s theory which reduces self to a certain memplex. The article proves that Blackmore’s definition of meme is inconsistent with her thesis that self is only a memplex, and Blackmore’s theory of self breeds some insurmountable difficulties. The article also shows limitation of memetics as a perspective which can be fruitful in solving the problem of self.
