Summary/Abstract: This paper aims at discussing the importance of teaching with videos for the purpose ofdeveloping communicative skills and confidence in second language learners. Nowadays generationsare accustomed to using the Internet from a very young age, thus it is only natural to tackle resourcesalike when improving both teaching and learning. Open Education resources carefully selected by theteacher according to students' interests and needs are considered more and more in the classroomand beyond it. This paper is mostly a case study conducted on Pre-Intermediate and Intermediatestudents of Ovidius University and it monitors their response to watching and debating about shortvideos shown in the classroom as icebreakers on different topics from the curriculum. It is highlyimportant to cultivate fluency, personal opinions and a general climate of trust and partnership in thismanner for the benefit of both sides. Students that are motivated and valued are more likely to besuccessful outside the classroom, this being the ultimate goal of the teaching-learning process.
