Summary/Abstract: One should ask the appropriate questions concerning NATO and EU behaviour towards their Eastern neighborhood, this is an important strategic and political issue, having in mind Russia’s aggressive behavior towards Ukraine and other Black Sea states. Georgia and Ukraine missed in 2008, at the NATO summit in Bucharest the MAP, therefore they could not get the perspective of EU membership, while the EU summit in Vilnius, in November 2013, generated the decision by the Ukrainian leadership to prefer Russia’s Customs Union generated huge streets protests, fight and the regime change. Russi’s decision to annex Crimea proved to be a game changer, putting into question the issues of post World War II borders in Europe and the OSCE Helsinki system.
