Summary/Abstract: In spite of the spectacular evolutions of the European Union after the Cold War, in the political, juridical and economic field, there are a lot of vulnerabilities which cast a doubt on the perspective that EU would really survive this century and fulfill its long term goal of creating a common identity for the member nations while ensuring a permanent and functional institutional armeture. The world economic crisis since 2008 and the uncertainty about the political structure of EU – federation, confederation, supranational state or multilevel governance entity – increased euro-skepticism and created legitimate worry among European experts and public opinion.
