Summary/Abstract: The subject of the paper is the mathematical model construction of problem situations, caused by additive operations (union, intersection and supplement) with finite sets in primary school mathematics. A comparative analysis of two methodological approaches for modeling and solving problems for additive operations and natural numbers is done. It is about the already known „Euler-Venn diagram“ method and the innovative „MZ-card“ method. An idea is drawn that a solution could be found easier, if the two approaches complement one another in the construction of the mathematical model of the problem.
