Summary/Abstract: When we discuss the indigenous North American writings, literary and historical concept occupies an important, almost a central part and role in the quest for self-identification of indigenous people. Novels, short stories and poems are the ones that carried the main burden of ratification of identity, self-identity and self-identification. Autostereotyping, which the 'Indians' were confronted with, and their struggle with these stereotypes is the main issue of this paper.
