Summary/Abstract: The main argument of this article isn’t hat Russia decided in August 2008 to attack Georgia and support the emergence of secessionist states Abkhazia and South Ossetia in order to harm the interests of the West and deny the role of hegemonic power for the USA. In fact, Russia is ”forcing” its recognition as one of the systemic powers, something which was denied to her after the end of the Cold War.
