Diversity of local self-government in the European Union member states

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents legal standards for local authorities functioning included in the European Charter of Local Self-Government. The analysis of local self-government diversity in particular European Union member states was performed following the most important differentiating criteria, i.e. the number of self-government authorities types (levels), term of office period and the manner according to which executing bodies are chosen.
