Summary/Abstract: A satirical text in verse with the title “Man and wife” (“Barbatul si nevasta”) was published in 1886 in “Foița Tribunei”. It had been sent by a teacher from Banat, with the mention that the verses originate from a miscellaneous manuscript from around 1812-1817.There are many similarities between this text and Vasile Aaron „Speech in verse of jesting between Leonat, the drunkard from Longobarda and Dorofata, his woman” (“Vorbire in versuri de glume întră Leonat, bețivul bărbat din Longobarda, și întră Dorofata, muierea sa”), of whose first printed edition (Sibiu, 1803) no copies remain. The conclusion reached by comparing the two is that they might have had a common source of inspiration, one that had been in circulation in the Romanian part of the Habsburg Empire at the beginning of the 19th century.
