Summary/Abstract: The article presents a correlation between the extra-linguistic reality and the language exemplified with twelve nouns functioning in the present-day Polish language: alkoreksja, anoreksja, bigoreksja, brideoreksja, ciążoreksja, drunkoreksja, manoreksja, ortoreksja, permareksja, pregoreksja, tanoreksja and vigoreksja and their derivatives. The above mentioned lexemes refer to various psychological disorders and are connected with the model of life, dominant at the moment, in which the human being strives after perfection in many spheres of social functioning and after excessive self-control over their own behaviour, which – in turn – leads to many ailments. Those phenomena are reflected in a series of new nouns depicting such disorders and the people suffering from them. According to the analysis that has been carried out it may be claimed that there are names for psychological disorders with the suffixes -reksja (tanoreksja), created from the mutational derivatives with the formant -yk (tanoretyk), which are the basis for modificational derivatives with the suffix -ka (tanorektyczka). This mechanism is productive and in the future may lead to other new lexemes based on the same pattern.
