Summary/Abstract: Psychiatric disorders fall into the category of general illnesses with major repercussions for patients' oral health. The cariogenic risk in these patients is high, being determined by the perturbations that the disease n1ay cause, but also the specific medication, dental hygiene, cariogenic nutrition, salivary protection and lack of addressability to the dentist. The aim of the study ,vas to evaluate the risk of cariogenicity in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. In our study we observed 6 patients aged 35 to 55 years, diagnosed with schizophrenia, under the treatment with psychotropic medication. We evaluated a range of clinical and biological parameters of oral health (DMFT, DMFS, Pl, RFR, RFS, pH, CT, Streptococcusmutants and Lactobacillus in saliva).
