Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the promotion of pro-ecological initiatives addressed to residents of the municipality. It presents a concept of promotion, its basic instruments and condi-tions in relation to conducting this activity by Local Government Units. An attempt was made to refer these issues to the ecological aspects of the functioning of municipalities. Conducted considerations in this area are illustrated by examples of promotional activities in the field of ecology in the Mikołów municipality.
