Summary/Abstract: Entrepreneurship, as an important segment of sustainable development of the economic system, becomes the main element of reducing the unemployment rate in Serbia. During its short development, important results have been achieved. For example, in Serbia there are over 90,000 firms which provide the key contribution to employment. However, all of these starting results, in comparison to the transition needs of the economy and the large scale of unemployment, can be treated as initial and quite modest. Especially young people and business beginners are faced with insurmountable problems and obstacles when starting their own business. This paper examines the orientation of young people towards entrepreneurship under the conditions of a very unfavorable economic environment and economic crisis.
