Summary/Abstract: The article represents the first part of discussion about the functions of the right hemisphere in the language processes. Before 1970s the approach stating that lingual functions are merely connected with the left hemisphere becomes obsolete in the 21st century . Nowadays, modern psychological, linguistic and medical research has clearly showed the relationship between lingual deficits and the damage of the right hemisphere structures. Lingual deficits usually concern disorders such as expression/emotion aprosody, comprehension of complex sentences, problems with semantics and lexis, and so on. Thses patients with the damaged right hemisphere visit speech and language neurotherapists more frequently since such therapists can minimize communication disorders caused by the right hemisphere damage if the right treatment is applied.
