The Problem of the Content and Form of the Self-managerial Information

Summary/Abstract: If we take for granted that there cannot exist self-management without properly informed workers, we immediately face an important question: what should be the content and the form of that information. The first part of the question is usually summarily disposed of by »defining« the content as »everything that is important for self-managerial decisions«. And, of course, this is no answer at all. And the second part of the question is usually not posed at all: the problem of the form of information does not exist for the majority of the discussants. We will first attack the form of the information problem. In this . respect we must differentiate two main situations: one of the "active" self-management, when the decisions are made and the second of the "latent" self-management, when the workers need the general orientation in the events at the factory and not much more. For the first situation the' participants have to be informed about the problem itself, about' the, possible ,solutions and about the consequences of every solution. For the second situation they have to know the situation, its consequences, responsibilities and ways of self-managerial control of it. To know the situation in this context means to be in the position to evaluate it and introduces the requirement of the comparative data that should be related to the workers . As to the content itself it is believed here that the .Central theme should be the revenue. All other themes should be logically connected with this center of concern so • as to create an integrated whole. Such approach is contrasted with the usual one of other researcher who operate on the level of disconnected series of contents.
