Summary/Abstract: The article is about family and artistic relationships, especially between mother and daughter, in family (auto)biographies of Kira Gałczyńska. The main research category in the article is illness (of mother and father). The author analyse impact of illness on the process of creating the narrations of Natalia Gałczyńska (translator, writer) and the memory narrations of Kira Gałczyńska. The article shows how in the family (auto)biographies the daughter created a figure of the mother by placing her biography and writing in the intellectual and artistic space. In this way daughter gave mother a place in the history of literature and literary life, not only as the wife of her husband, who was famous Polish poet, but as the talented writer and translator.
