Summary/Abstract: Students are often prone to a number of harmful practices connected with studying. The aim of the research was to determine the level of physical activity among future teachers of physical education. Also, an attempt to point the factors motivating students to spend time actively and barriers to taking part in a broadly defined physical culture was made. 392 students at the Departments of Physical Education in Biala Podlaska and Cracow Academies were examined. It was proved that the examined showed a high level of physical activity. They admit that health is the main reason behind taking up various forms of physical activities and that the main barrier is the lack of time resulting from studying.
