Summary/Abstract: The article aims to present in a new light the events of December 1931, when the major part of Sofia University’s students stood against the return (as a professor) of the former Prime-Minister Alexander Tsankov and faced a cruel conflict with the police. Now for the first time a detailed review of the debates in the Parliament (16–18 of December, 1931) is made here, reflecting the scenes of violence in and around the University. On the basis of the stenographic logs of the First Regular Session of the 23rd Ordinary National Assembly and while aiming for maximum objectivity the points of view of the different parliamentary groups have been presented here as well as these of the ministers from the government of the “People’s Block”, which also express their opinions before the members of the Parliament. The documentary material, object of this research, may contribute to the clarification of the complex situation, in which the country happened to be at the end of the ‘Sgovor’ regime (1923–1931).
