Summary/Abstract: This text constitutes an attempt to supplement the existing re search on readership, both from the perspective of books and anthropocentrism. In the text, the authors take into account the sociological βield of observation, where social,cultural and demographic conditionings of reading behaviours of the inhabitants of the Biała Podlaska county relating to the use of written and electronic press come to force. What do we read? How often do we reach for our favourite magazines? How do we assess our preferred press? What role within the printed press is played by electronic one? In which direction is readership heading and what are its prospects? Are we dealing with a fashion not to read at all?Can the electronic press be a cure-all for the contemporary crisis of readership?For those and other questions the authors of the work try to βind answers, referring both to their own research as well as the national data on the current state as well as the future of readership in Poland.
