Summary/Abstract: The text focuses on the figure of a hunter, juxtaposes ethos with practice, especially in the context of the writ to completely eliminate Polish boars as a response to the ASF threat. It supposes that inflicting death in the name of the love of nature is a realisation of the myth of a man who kills what he loves and through that he discloses (without any risk for himself, which is interesting) his own drive to death. The author indicates that hunting has become a commercial pleasure. Indulging in it depends on the economic potential of the hunter, who needs to be equipped with the top rifles, telescopes and night-vision devices. This bliss, but also the urge to buy, must trigger hate towards the animals, who cannot purchase rifles, telescopes of the newest warning systems. A century ago a hunter would have not been ashamed of deriving pleasure from killing. The modern change in social sensitivity, noticeable in social media, makes the hunter hide the pleasure behind the curtain of sacrifice.
