Summary/Abstract: This paper tries to present the situation in the church from 1789 to 1962 fi rst. This historical survey shows the reasons why the council needed to be called. Then there is a brief presentation of some of the main contributions of the council, document after document, including some of the buried treasures and points which are still being fought over. It is not exhaustive. It mentions where further work needs to be done.
