Summary/Abstract: The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 has attracted the attention of listeners and exegetes alike. This article intends to contribute to the ongoing scholarly debate by approaching the text from the narrative standpoint with the primary aim of highlighting the presence of a number of contrasts, some readily identifiable, some less. Proposing an exegesis of the entire text of the parable through the lenses of narrative approach, it seeks to identify the linguistic and conceptual contrasts permeating the text. As a skillful writer, the evangelist has created this parable that constantly revolves around the contrasts between the rich man and Lazarus as a warning to the rich who must heed the message of Moses and the Prophets lest they wind up in the place of torment. They must make sure that the gate does not become a great chasm.
