Honey and its cultural meaning in the light of linguistic facts

Summary/Abstract: The paper investigates linguistically attested collocations of the word miód ‘honey’. It is based on lexical data collected from etymological dictionaries of the Slavic languages, historical and contemporary dictionaries of Polish, works on dialects and folk texts. Thus excerpted material becomes the basis of a description of the cultural function of honey among the Slavs from the earliest times to the present.
