Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the relation between a sense of humor and Christianity.It chronologically pass through epochs and writings: the Bible, the Fathers ofthe Church, the Middle Ages, modern times and present day. The articleshows on specific examples of texts and people (most often saints), that thesense of humor was at all epochs part of Christian spirituality and cultureshaped by it. It also presents currents int theology (f.e. Jansenism), which aspireto minimize humor and joy in the life of a Christian
