Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to shed light on Friedrich Schiller’s influence on ideas of Ivana Brlic Mazuranic, philosophical aspects of Čudnovate zgode šegrta Hlapića (which “prepare” young readers for life by gnome advices or wisdoms) and how they fit into the reflective system which was expressed by Ivana Brlic–Mazuranic in her essays and lectures intended for adult audience (e.g. Mir u duši). It is interesting that the fundamental ethical and philosophical categories which she used in addressing the adults, are also used in addressing children, by giving them different and simpler linguistic concretization. Such fragments are characterized by thoughtfulness, and their special quality are their proverbial and aphoristic properties which contribute to intensification of its semantic layer. In such way, Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic is placed into the rarest group of authors – the ones who represent the meeting point of children and adults.
