Summary/Abstract: The article explores one of the most popular claims in the digital era – that children born in the years of constant progress of information and communication technologies naturally develop their media literacy. Therefore, it is believed that children in the first years after their birth acquire all the necessary skills and competences for survival in the vast Internet world and the risky media environment. However, practice shows that this is only a myth, which should be rather denied. Like any other competence that modern man possesses, media literacy must also be mastered and developed in the Bulgarian school.
