Summary/Abstract: Achievements of science in modern society directly promote production of new books, teaching aids, toys for children and result in their constant development. Contemporary toys are interesting and attractive for children due to their appearance and technical possibilities and, thus, become an important factor influencing their culture of play. The presentation analyses the impact of subculture of modern education and development aids on games of 5-6 year old children. The sample of the research includes 402 pre-school children, their parents and 104 educators. The methods applied involve questionnaire, interview, observation, collision situations. Modern aids of education comprise games developed under influence of modern technologies, toys, information and communication resources, publications, festivals and performances. The research results revealed that the influence of modern aids of education correlates with children's age, sex, and their place of living, parents' education and financial status. 6-year old children perform play actions and roles of technologised and unreal nature more frequently compared to 5-year old children. Boys tend to choose fantasy-based plots more often than girls. Modern education aids prevail in play of children living in cities and from families with higher income. On the other hand, the saturated Lithuanian market of educational aids and toys, reflecting a multicultural tradition, raises parents and teachers' concerns about the lack of toys and play aids, which represent national culture.
