Summary/Abstract: There are certain universal philosophical concepts, such as space and time, which are essential dimensions of reality and implicitly of literary space. Introduced as a notion in literary theory by Edward Twitchel Hall, the term proxemics defines the connection of space with the other major category of the text – the character. This concept is supported and argued in his studies by this important theorist who defines proxemics as "the study of perception and use of space by man".The subject of the novel is a historical one the phenomenon described is real, as well as the character who passes through the events presented in the book and film. He is still living, as we find out at the end of the novel. The action of the novel runs 80% in the limited space prison in Brașov, describing in detail the author’s period of detention, a traumatic experience, betweenDecember 1957 and December 1959. The main character of the novel “RedGloves”, Felix Goldschmidt, corresponding in fact to the author of the novel, Eginald Schlattner, is a complex character in or outward living, influenced to a large extent by the carceral space. What deeply impresses are prison relationships: between the investigated and the investigator, but also the detainees. The absurdity and cruelty of the people representing the law at that time, but also what a man can endure without any guilt, how radical ideas an dideals can change under thein fluence of torture, all these become overwhelming food for reflection, especially the complex theme of working with the Securitate (the political police)
