Summary/Abstract: Throughout his life, Ferdinand I of Bulgaria was a subject of great public and media interest and he never left the audience indifferent. Respect for him comes to worship, negation to hatred. It is interesting to look at two public statements that are clearly negative propaganda or – in modern terms – are examples of fake news. Their purpose is to vilify the personality and the entourage of the Bulgarian ruler, showing him in the most repulsive dark colours and using for argumentation half-truths, sewn events or straight lies and fables.
