Summary/Abstract: With the dissemination of the idea of inclusive education, the number of students with disabilitiesin mainstream schools is growing. It poses questions about the adequate preparation of schools,including teachers, for the implementation of this new model of education. The emphasis of thisarticle is placed on opinions of primary schools teachers on their own competencies for work withstudents with disabilities. The goal of this article is analyse the results of the surveys from mainstream primary schools from three Polish regions: Lower Silesia, Lubusz and Kuyavia-Pomerania in the context of preparing teachers to work with students with disabilities. The analysis of theresults concerns the teachers’ assessment of the amount of knowledge held about human disability,the understanding of the term “person with disability”, preparing the respondents for educationaland didactic work with students with disabilities and their attitudes towards inclusive education.
