AHMET ADNAN SAYGUN’UN 3. SENFONİSİNDE KORNO’NUN KULLANIMI ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME
AN INVESTIGATION OF USING FRENCH HORN IN AHMET ADNAN SAYGUN’S THIRD SYMPHONY

Summary/Abstract: Ahmet Adnan Saygun who has a significant role in Modern Turkish Music, had many composition in solo, piano, chamber music and symphony. Especially in compositions which he composed for symphony orchestra, he showed great attitude, used Turkish music mode as a color and showed this usage on his own orchestration. French horn takes important part in Saygun’s symphonic music. Although he did not use modern techniques, some passages that he used French horn’s sound width and affect, takes attention. Also, composer gave substantial role to some techniques such as flatterzunge, chiuso, aperto-surdin that are effective on French horn performs. Apart from these techniques, Saygun’s Third Symphony was selected to investigate French horn usage.
