Summary/Abstract: Usage of Neapolitan’s sixth chord in Turkish music’s harmonization was investigated in this study. Initially, Neapolitan’s sixth chord was defined and retarding and shifting effects of dominant chord were emphasized. Afterward, the usage of Neapolitan six-chords in Turkish harmonizations of four Turkish composers who gave works in tonal harmony were examined. As a result of this investigation, it was seen that Neapolitan’s sixth chord in Turkish music’s harmonization was used as a root as in the works of Romantic composers, it was evaluated as more useful in nihavend and hüseyni makams.
