Summary/Abstract: A team of students of Architecture was invited in a guided research project to design a relaxation room in home for elderly people. Project was developed from theory to praxis. The paper presents used methods from the scratch to full function of a designed room. Given task was structured in sections in sense to reach the goals in given time. Sections are functional parts (guidelines) to clarify the idea and the basic aims of relaxation issues for elderly. Architectural form shaping envelope and the furniture was not the basic response to the task, we used other sources to design a relaxation mood: dimmed warm LED light; integrate surface inequalities of wall finishing as part of visual landscape of projected plane; rough wood boards to evoke haptic memories; environment with sound of moving train; colour scheme of interiors from late 70ies…etc. The aim was to evoke memories from the era when the majority of visitors lived their fully active life.
