- Summary/Abstract: The article presents an overview of the existing and potential individual housing construction in Slovenia, assesses the market potential for the installation of heat pumps in Slovenia, and analyzes trends in the heat pump industry in selected European markets. The purpose of the article is, based on the compilation of several secondary data sources and by using the scientific methods of analysis, comparison and synthesis, to provide designers and final customers with a comprehensive overview of information that is necessary for the optimal choice of a heat pump (or heating system in general) in the field of individual housing construction. The use of heat pumps is economical, environmentally friendly and does not require the physical effort of users. Before choosing the appropriate medium, air, soil or water, the location of the house and natural conditions must be taken into account, while for choosing the optimal power of a heat pump, it is necessary to specify the energy needs of the building. In the past, geothermal water-water and ground-water systems dominated, but today they are in decline in individual housing construction. On the other hand, the market of cheaper air-water systems, especially smaller units for new buildings and energy-renewed smaller houses with a power of up to 10 kW, is growing. At the global level, the market grows on average 5.5 % annually, which is also the aim in Slovenia, and in Europe the market is even doubled every 10 years. Growth is lower in countries where the market is already developed, that is, in Slovenia, Austria, Germany, France and the Scandinavian countries.

- Summary/Abstract: Economical aspects of cultural heritage in Slovenia became important in 2004 as the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Slovenia ordered all managers of national museums and galleries to conduct an inventory and valuation of all cultural heritage objects they acquired after the year 1991. The research presented here was carried out in three national museums with the intent of determining the state of economic valuation of cultural heritage objects and corresponding accounting practices. The structured interviews conducted have shown that the use of economic valuation methods of cultural heritage objects in Slovenia is very limited, as all methods found are concentrated on determining the market value of cultural heritage, however they completely ignore their economic value for users that do not use those objects directly. The research also shows that all three institutions face the same challenges with economic valuation of cultural heritage objects, so developing common methodology for the museums use makes sense. In order to ascertain the actual value of assets kept in museums in the Republic of Slovenia, the valuation of cultural heritage objects – as it has not been finished yet – has to be sped-up and finished as soon as possible.

- Summary/Abstract: Bohinj is among the areas with the best preserved cultural heritage of the building environment. This is the result of the needs of people living in the rural areas. They tried to use sustainable resources as much as possible. Among different buildings, which helped people to survive in this humble country are hay barns (in dialect "svisli"). Their purpose was to save the hay. Farmers prepared dry hay during the summer and saved it in the hay barns, which were erected on alpine meadows. In winter time they transported the hay to the settlements in the valley. This hay was important food for domestic animals during long and cold winters. Hay barns are auxiliary buildings. The stay far from farmhouses and villages. The most important thing about hay barns is their usefulness. These buildings in Bohinj show a very high level of carpenter knowledge and the use of local material - wood. The aesthetics is only the consequence of the rationality. Nevertheless these buildings were an indispensable part of the picturesque cultural landscape in the Alps. A higher standard of living and the change in agriculture in the past decades have resulted in the abandonment of the meadows. The forest has spread to the former alpine meadows, and the consequence is the collapse of this wooden buildings. I want to show the basic composition principles of the hay barns over the Uskovnica pasture in Bohinj because these buildings unfortunately deteriorate every year.

- Summary/Abstract: The building fund for elementary schools in Slovenia, which includes primary schools and branches, is extensive and diverse. In order to create an overview of the fund and the buildings compared to each other, the basic data about the main characteristics of all the buildings from publicly accessible databases have been provided. Data on the number of departments and floors, the location of the space and the year of construction were highlighted as being key. It is possible to define architecturally important and anonymous buildings from the information in publications of the professional press, the recipients of the professional awards and from the inclusion on the list of cultural heritage. On this basis, the categorization of buildings and a quantitative analysis were carried out. From a detailed overview of the regulations governing the design and construction of schools in Slovenia in the course of history and a comparison of the spatial parameters for basic spatial units and program blocks determined by the regulations, we can conclude that the basic spatial needs of the school did not change significantly over the various periods. Also, an isolated classroom remains the basic spatial unit of the school building for all periods, which also determines the framework of the educational activity. Thus, buildings from different periods, with some functional additions (gymnasiums, dining rooms, multipurpose halls), could remain in use over time. The latest forms of pedagogical work supported by information and communication technology bring innovations in the design of the school space, which require changes in the established normative requirements.

- Summary/Abstract: The importance of planning quality when it comes to spaces and kindergarten buildings derives from the care of the child, the most sensitive and, to the impulses from the surroundings, the most perceptible member of society. The impact of the surroundings on shaping the child's personality consequently influences the cultural, social and environmental development of individual generations. Kindergartens in Slovenia were created during different time periods and are a product of the various social systems as well as the norms and regulations. In order to properly assess the quality of childcare, the quality of the already-constructed buildings and premises must be assessed, since they are also one of the three basic conditions for the establishment and functioning of the kindergarten. The article outlines the importance of registering kindergarten buildings, which represents the first step in the recognition of the current situation regarding the state of the kindergarten buildings in Slovenia. The registration was carried out as part of a wider research (CRP 2016–2019, Analysis of the situation in the field of architecture for public kindergartens and schools in Slovenia – registering, evaluating and protecting examples of quality (sustainable) architectural practices). The purpose of the registration is to identify the quality kindergarten buildings in Slovenia, the setting up of security mechanisms and the establishment of interdisciplinary criteria for an evaluation. The criteria for the quality evaluation are the basis for the implementation of new guidelines for the design and construction of kindergartens in Slovenia. 61 The importance of registration and evaluation of kindergarten buildings in Slovenia AR

- Issue: 2/2017
- Page Range: 68-77
- No. of Pages: 10
- Keywords: Sustainability assessment; renewal; urban design; neighborhood; public space;
- Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the issue of the efficiency and sustainability performance in the built environments. We provide an insight into the research committed to the development of methodology for estimation of the efficiency as regards local resources at the level of neighborhoods. Specifically, the research develops the evaluation model, based on the modular system of indicators and to it connected methodology for the interpretation of resulting values. It evaluates sustainability performance through five main categories: i) energy efficiency, ii) environmental efficiency, iii) efficient organization and management of the built environment, iv) communities’ engagement level, v) exploitation of ICT smart solutions to foster other four categories of efficiency. Each of the categories is observed through three strategic levels of implementation: (1) buildings or households, (2) public and in-between spaces, (3) traffic organization and infrastructure. Such structuring introduces possibilities for evaluating neighborhoods from environmental aspects, built environment characteristics, appearances and functionalities, as well as activities, habits and socio-demographic structure of their inhabitants – all being crucial factors in achieving better performance and efficiency of cities and their parts. The paper presents first two stages of the research process and subjects the outcomes to the debate.

- Keywords: Architecture; spatial design as part of the fine arts; fine arts design; the intersection of the arts; erasing borders in the fine arts;
- Summary/Abstract: The language of the fine arts is the one who gives to contents an acceptable form, and for all categories of fine arts is the same. Fine artistry is actually part of any kind of spatial design of quality. For the spatial art design is also considered to be a transfer of the conceptual-content concept into an spatial-art language. Spatial design in the broadest sense is in general also the concern of its overall visual image. Emphasized artistic image is also valid to some of the presentations of architectural or urban space, which usually belongs to the level of conceptual presentation projects, but at the same time, they can also be seen as the finished artwork by itself. Architecture draws upon and at its manners treats and builds on the results of other genres of fine arts. Therefore, in spatial design we can talk about connecting and deleting borders between the different mediums, disciplines. Because we, spatial designers are primarily dealing with composition, study of spatial design, means at the same time a specific fine artistry education. Fine arts design also represents the basics of stage design. In scenography it comes to the integration of the entire field of arts. Also the wholeness of urban spatial design, among others, sets up a bunch of scene elements, procedures. Spatial-planning process, which concerns the design of the cities, in its core is the most comprehensive and at the same time the most complex art project.

- Summary/Abstract: A team of students of Architecture was invited in a guided research project to design a relaxation room in home for elderly people. Project was developed from theory to praxis. The paper presents used methods from the scratch to full function of a designed room. Given task was structured in sections in sense to reach the goals in given time. Sections are functional parts (guidelines) to clarify the idea and the basic aims of relaxation issues for elderly. Architectural form shaping envelope and the furniture was not the basic response to the task, we used other sources to design a relaxation mood: dimmed warm LED light; integrate surface inequalities of wall finishing as part of visual landscape of projected plane; rough wood boards to evoke haptic memories; environment with sound of moving train; colour scheme of interiors from late 70ies…etc. The aim was to evoke memories from the era when the majority of visitors lived their fully active life.
