Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the way in which the verbal categories aspect, tense, mood and voice are treated in the educational books of the Greek Middle School, called “Gymnasium” (7th to 9th Grade in the Bulgarian schools). We analyzed seven books: one grammar of Modern Greek and the methodological guides for the teachers, the textbooks and theworkbooks for the 1stGrade and the 2nd Gradeof the Middle School (Gymnasium). The main conclusion of the review of these teaching materials is that the grammar and the methodological guides for the teachers offer more modern treatment of the Modern Greek verbal system, while the textbooks adhere to the traditional description of the verbal system.
